The Canadian women’s soccer team finalized its roster for its first-ever Olympic soccer tournament, Aug. 6-21 in Beijing, and there is a Nanaimo connection.
Saltspring Island’s Clare Rustad and Crofton’s Emily Zurrer, both Canadian defenders, both played senior women’s soccer in Nanaimo.
Rustad, 25, and Zurrer, 21, are among 10 B.C. players named to the squad.
